AN EDITORIAL INVESTIGATION INTO 21ST-CENTURY FASCISM

Putinis the realNazi.

Wake Up World

For decades the word “Nazi” was wielded by the Kremlin as a weapon against its neighbours. This dossier turns the mirror around — measuring Vladimir Putin against the very playbook of Adolf Hitler, tenet by tenet, atrocity by atrocity.

Read the evidence

The same playbook,
eighty years apart.

11 tenets — Hitler vs Putin

01

Unprovoked Invasion & Territorial Annexation

Hitler1938–39

Seized Austria and the Sudetenland, then invaded Poland — all justified as “reuniting” and “protecting” ethnic Germans stranded beyond the Reich’s borders.

Putin2014–22

Annexed Crimea, then declared four Ukrainian oblasts Russian territory — all justified as “protecting” ethnic Russians and Russian-speakers abroad.

02

Manufactured Pretexts for War

Hitler1939

Staged the Gleiwitz “attack” — SS operatives in Polish uniforms faked an assault on a German radio station to fabricate a casus belli for invading Poland.

Putin2022

Fabricated a “genocide” of Russian-speakers in the Donbas and a phantom Ukrainian threat to justify a “special military operation.”

03

Erasing a Nation’s Right to Exist

Hitler1930s

Dismissed neighbouring states as artificial constructs of the Versailles order, unworthy of true sovereignty.

Putin2021–22

Declared in essays and speeches that Ukraine is “not a real country” — merely an invention of Lenin with no legitimate statehood.

04

Absolute Power & the Crushing of Dissent

Hitler1933–34

The Enabling Act dissolved democracy; opposition parties were banned and rivals murdered in the Night of the Long Knives.

Putin2020–24

Rewrote the constitution to rule until 2036; poisoned, jailed and buried his most prominent opponent, Alexei Navalny.

05

War Crimes & the Targeting of Civilians

Hitler1939–45

Terror-bombing of civilian cities and systematic mass atrocities against occupied populations.

Putin2022–

The Bucha massacre, the bombing of the Mariupol theatre sheltering children, and relentless strikes on hospitals and power grids.

06

Forced Deportations & Filtration Camps

Hitler1939–45

Mass forced deportations of civilians into camps and Germanisation of occupied children.

Putin2022–

Thousands of Ukrainian children abducted and “re-educated” in Russia; an ICC arrest warrant issued for their unlawful deportation.

07

Total Propaganda & the Death of a Free Press

Hitler1933–45

Goebbels’ Ministry of Propaganda seized every newspaper, radio and cinema, turning the free press into a single obedient voice of the Reich.

Putin2000–

State television monopolised; independent outlets branded “foreign agents” and shuttered; calling the war a “war” made a criminal offence.

08

Militarising the Next Generation

Hitler1926–45

The Hitler Youth drilled boys for war and girls for the home, replacing family and faith with unquestioning loyalty to the Führer.

Putin2016–

The Yunarmia “Youth Army” and a rewritten school curriculum glorify the state, teach children to handle weapons and revere the leader.

09

Manufacturing the “Enemy Within”

Hitler1933–45

Jews, communists and minorities were cast as an internal contagion — traitors blamed for the nation’s every wound.

Putin2012–

“Foreign agents,” LGBTQ+ people and dissenters are branded “national traitors” and a fifth column corrupting the motherland.

10

Theatre of Consent: Rigged Plebiscites

Hitler1938

The Anschluss was “ratified” by a plebiscite claiming 99.7% approval — conquest dressed up as the will of the people.

Putin2022

Annexation of four occupied Ukrainian regions was “confirmed” by staged votes at gunpoint reporting near-unanimous approval.

11

Rewriting History to Justify Empire

Hitler1920s–45

A mythologised destiny of a greater German Reich justified reclaiming “lost” lands and a thousand-year empire.

Putin2005–

The “Russkiy Mir” doctrine, the rehabilitation of Stalin and a rewritten WWII narrative frame conquest as historical restoration.

The Manifesto — Four Chapters

History does not
repeat by accident.

IChapter

The Anatomy of Modern Authoritarianism

Tyranny rarely announces itself. It arrives dressed as grievance, as restoration, as the righting of historical wrongs. Hitler promised to undo the humiliation of Versailles; Putin promises to reverse the “greatest geopolitical catastrophe” — the collapse of the Soviet empire. Both men fused wounded national pride with a strongman’s cult, and both converted that fusion into conquest.

Deconstructing the “Denazification” Myth

The cruellest irony of this war is its branding. Putin claims to invade Ukraine to “denazify” a country led by a democratically elected Jewish president who lost family members in the Holocaust. It is projection weaponised as policy — the aggressor accusing his victim of his own crimes, so that the world hesitates long enough for the tanks to roll.

The Human Cost of Imperial Ambition

Behind every doctrine is a body count. Mariupol reduced to rubble. A maternity ward turned to ash. Mass graves in Bucha. Children loaded onto buses and driven east, never to see their parents again. These are not the accidents of war — they are its instrument, chosen deliberately to break a people’s will to exist as themselves.

The Call to Action for Free Nations

“Never again” was never a prophecy — it was a promise, and a promise demands action. Recognising the pattern is the first duty of every free citizen. The second is refusing to look away. History does not repeat by accident; it repeats when good people decide it is someone else’s problem. Wake up, world.
